The Los Angeles Chargers are in the market for a new running back. This comes after Austin Ekeler signed with the Washington Commanders. Ekeler left big shoes to fill for the Chargers. However, there is a notable free agent they plan to meet today who could end up replacing him.

Los Angeles Chargers Meeting J.K. Dobbins

According to LAA Sports, J.K. Dobbins’ agency, Dobbins plans on meeting with the Los Angeles Chargers today. This comes after Dobbins has been cleared for football activity. Last season, he unfortunately suffered a torn Achilles injury.

J.K. Dobbins’ Declining Career

After having a stellar rookie season in 2020, Dobbins’ NFL career has gone downhill ever since. Over the last three seasons, Dobbins has just three rushing touchdowns and 542 rushing yards. He has played just nine games in this stretch.

Replacing Austin Ekeler

The Chargers have their work cut out for them to replace Austin Ekeler. He was arguably one of the best running backs in the NFL during his tenure in Los Angeles. Last season, Ekeler had 628 rushing yards and five rushing touchdowns. Now, the Chargers could potentially try to get this out of Dobbins if this meeting goes well.
