Los Angeles Rams defensive back, Quentin Lake sat down with the LAFB Network and gave his thoughts on how his role evolved from game to game. Here was the breakdown in his words about how his role shifted throughout the year and in some cases within the same game,

Quentin Lake Is The Los Angeles Rams Swiss Army Knife In Defensive Backfield

“At first it was a dime linebacker, then it was dime money, dime DB. Then it was safety, then it was nickel in one package, then nickel, then safety, and then safety and nickel in the same game.”

That is a lot for one player to wrap his mind around in one game, so how did Lake cope with the varied responsibilities of his roles?

“It comes down to film study and just having the coaches put that trust in you. It was fun, being in different spots. It was fun being able to blitz cover, be back there, coming out of the half, coming out of the middle of the field.”

Lake went on to say that the safety that he noticed that was being used in a similarly versatile way was the Baltimore Ravens safety Kyle Hamilton.
