The Steelers having some uncertainty at the inside linebacker position. With Devin Bush not looking like the same player he was his rookie season. Robert Spillane is a very limited guy who is an absolute liability in pass coverage. Who can be the guy behind Myles Jack, who has looked great this preseason. He is exactly who we thought he was, and he needs a respectable running mate. Could Mark Robinson emerge as the guy if Bush does not work out?

Mark Robinson Performance

Although Mark Robinson has looked great in training camp and preseason he has a lot of work to do. He has been able to fly around in pass coverage and also make plays in the run game. In 2 preseason games he has made his presence felt. Week one against the Seahawks the Steelers needed a stop. On the first play of the Seahawks drive late in the 4th Mark Robinson had a strip sack on Drew Locke.

Moving forward to week two he had multiple big hits that just looked ferocious. He has survives the first couple rounds of cuts as teams work their way to slimming down to a 53 man roster. Per Curt Popejoy of the Steelers Wire USA Today Sports he is showing a lot of flashes of prime Vince Williams. When he runs to the ball he is shot out of a cannon and there is pop to his hits. Robinson should make the Roster spot especially with Ulysees Gilbert III being cut. Additionally Buddy Johnson has not exactly looked great either.

It will be fun to see how the continuing roster cuts end up. The Steelers are currently down to 80 players on the roster and need to slim down to 53. My conclusion however, is Mark Robinson has shown more than enough in preseason to make the team as a viable rotational piece.

As always thanks so much for reading! You can always find great Steelers content here on Gridiron Heroics.
