Tom Brady and Matt Cassel enjoyed a solid working relationship during their time as teammates, even remaining friends after Cassel was traded to the Chiefs following the 2008 season. The bond the two forged, however, did not stop Brady from taking a prank war with Cassel to absurd, not to mention disgusting, levels.

During an appearance on “Patriots Pregame Live” ahead of the team’s 33-0 win over the Jets on “Monday Night Football,” Cassel shared some horrifying details from a prank war with Brady during his second season, including how his practice jersey ended up being soaked in urine, of all things.

“I was coming in and a prank war started where he knocked my tray out of my hand, he put his foot up against the door, I poured some protein shake in his shoes, maybe some flexi-hot into his underwear,” Cassel said, as transcribed by NBC Sports Boston. “He dumped a trash can on my car and then decided to pee on my practice jersey, and then he asked me to forgive him and call him Captain Longshanks.

“So I was like, ‘No I’m not doing that, I’m going to do something even worse to you,’ and by the time we came in for practice, I had three tires in front of my locker, the other one was hidden, you know the old ‘put in on the blocks,'” he said. “The old adage goes back to don’t mess with people that have more money than you do.”

Cassel added at that point he wanted to give up, and the prank war got so out of hand that Bill Belichick had to step in and put the kibosh on it.

“… at that point, Bill had to step in and say, ‘Look, guys, this isn’t World War 4, okay,'” Cassel recalled. “‘We can’t have you guys going around hurting somebody or killing somebody.’”

Despite Belichick’s admonishments, Brady refused to ease up, as Cassel revealed it was almost a week before Brady returned the fourth tire for his car.

Suffice to say, it’s clearly a bad idea to get into a prank war with Brady.
