Matt LaFleur has no plans to remove Joe Barry as Packers DC

After surrendering a season-high 500 yards of total offense and 363 yards rushing — the third-most single-game rushing yards allowed in team history — in Sunday’s 40-33 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, no one would have been surprised if any of the Green Bay Packers coaching staff were out of a job.

But despite allowing those gaudy numbers, Packers head coach Matt LeFleur says that defensive coordinator Joe Barry’s job is safe.

“We're not going to go down that road,” LaFleur told reporters on Monday. “If I thought there was an issue there, then I would certainly, we'd make the change. But we work as a staff. And collectively, we're all in this sucker together.

“And, you know, it is never just one person. It starts with myself. And then it goes to our assistant coaches, and then our players. And we're all in this together. If I felt confident it was one person, then I would pinpoint it and let [the media] know that.”

The 1,329 yards of total offense allowed over the last three games is the fourth-most yards the Packers have allowed over a three-game stretch in franchise history.

Green Bay ranks 16th in total defense (342.6 yards per game) with the fourth-best passing defense (187.8 yards per game), the second-worst run defense (154.8 yards per game), and the 22nd-ranked scoring defense (23.6 points per game).
