Matthew Stafford's wife confirms big news

For the second straight winter , rumors of Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford's possible retirement were put to rest on social media.

Kelly Stafford, the wife of the two-time Pro Bowler, confirmed on Instagram Monday that her husband would be returning to the Rams for the 2024 season. She also reflected on the irony of the team's campaign ending Sunday night in Detroit against the Lions, where the former first overall pick spent the first 12 years of his career.

The news about the signal-caller comes less than two weeks after Los Angeles head coach Sean McVay said he'd be back in the fall as well.

Despite his decade-plus of leadership in the Motor City, Stafford was greeted with plenty of boos on Sunday night. His wife, at least, hasn't let the rude greeting get in the way of her rooting interest for the rest of this year's playoffs.

The Georgia product had a huge bounce-back season in 2023 that resulted in his second Pro Bowl nod and first since 2014.

Stafford played in 15 regular season games after being limited to nine in 2022, missing just one contest due to injury. He ended the campaign on a heater, posting a completion percentage of over 70% in four of his last five contests ahead of the playoff tilt.

Stafford also had six games with over 300 passing yards this year after recording just one in 2022. He finished Sunday's loss 25-for-36 for a season-high 367 passing yards (most since 2012), two touchdowns and no interceptions for a 120.9 passer rating, which was his second highest of the season.
