Mayor of Jacksonville fired up about Jets' win
'Tis the season for giving, and the New York Jets might have just given the Jacksonville Jaguars the best gift of them all: a shot at the No. 1 pick in the NFL Draft.
The Jets got their first win of the season on Sunday against the Los Angeles Rams, edging Sean McVay's squad 23-20. While fans of the franchise were understandably frustrated with the win, the mayor of Jacksonville couldn't help but share his excitement about the Jaguars potentially getting a shot to draft Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence.
New York's win gave Jacksonville the top spot in the 2021 NFL Draft... for now. There are still two weeks remaining on the season.
Both the Jaguars and Jets are in major need of a quarterback. Sam Darnold has never lived up to expectations in New York while the hype surrounding Gardner Minshew has subsided following a subpar 2020 season.
Whichever team lands Lawrence will be very lucky. However, there will still be a number of talented quarterbacks on the board with the second overall pick. Alabama's Mac Jones, Florida's Kyle Trask and Ohio State's Justin Fields are only a few of them.
