Micah Parsons reaches out to surprising ex-player to train with in offseason

Dallas Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons is looking to take his game to the next level in the 2023 NFL offseason. To do so, he has reached out to two-time All-Pro offensive tackle Andrew Whitworth to train with him.

Whitworth spoke about how the situation played out on The Rich Eisen Show and detailed that Parsons reached out to him, asking if he'd have interest in training and working with him this offseason.

It's an interesting combination, but it makes sense for Parsons to look at things from both sides of the ball and to pick the brain of one of the NFL's most respected offensive linemen in recent years.

As Whitworth detailed, Parsons told him he wanted to practice against someone who's "really elite at being my opponent."

Parsons has been a dominant force for the Cowboys since he was selected No. 12 overall by the team in the 2021 NFL Draft.

He was named the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year after recording 13 sacks, 20 tackles for loss, and 84 total tackles in his first season.

The encore performance for Parsons was just as impressive, as he totaled 13.5 sacks, 65 combined tackles, 13 for loss, and added three forced fumbles with three fumble recoveries as well.

Whitworth, a 16-year veteran, retired after the 2022 season but appears to be more than willing and eager to help the new generation of talent in the NFL.

Parsons has shown an impressive ability to consistently want to improve his game throughout his first two NFL offseasons. It's highly likely that he'll come away from his time with Whitworth equipped with additional knowledge and potentially even find a way to give himself even more of an advantage against opposing offenses in the 2023 NFL season.
