Michigan football is receiving quite the coaching overhaul to begin the Sherrone Moore era. While the offensive staff retained a lot of coaches, a large part of the defensive coaching staff followed Jim Harbaugh to the NFL. The Wolverines have been steadily announcing new defensive hires ever since. It was recently reported by Sam Webb of 247 Sports that Michigan has found its next defensive line coach in Greg Scruggs, the former defensive line coach for Wisconsin.

Michigan football reportedly hiring Greg Scruggs as next defensive line coach

After coaching just one year with the Wisconsin Badgers, Scruggs will join the Michigan football coaching staff as the defensive line coach. Before coaching the Badgers defensive line, Scruggs was an assistant defensive line coach for the New York Jets.

Out of college, Scruggs played defensive end in the NFL and won a Super Bowl with the Seahawks before converting to tight end to play for the Patriots. As a tight end with New England, Scruggs went on to win a second Super Bowl.

As defensive line coach, Scruggs will take over a position group that has been nothing short of dominant for the last several seasons of Michigan football. The Wolverines seem to pump out NFL-level defensive linemen year after year, and Scruggs will be looking to maintain the reputation that Michigan has built on the defensive front.
