Mike Vrabel compares rumors of a rift with Titans GM to Santa Claus

However, Vrabel told reporters on Wednesday that reports of any rift between himself and Carthon are about as real as some of America’s favorite holiday mascots.

“I don’t [have any comment on the rumor] because if we believed everything that was on social media, there’d be Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny and there’s no Tooth Fairy and all that,” Vrabel said, via 104.5 The Zone’s Kayla Anderson. “I really have never responded to any of those, and we’re not going to start now. I know where we’re at as an organization, I’m excited to build this thing and to fix this thing and get it to where we want it to be — to win championships — with Ran…and everybody.” 

The Titans are 5-11 this season, by far the worst year of any of Vrabel’s six seasons with the team. Tennessee is clearly in a rebuild, and Vrabel has been adamant that he and Carthon both want to work together to fix the mess of a roster that former GM Jon Robinson left them.

It appears the Titans already have their quarterback and running back of the future in Will Levis and Tyjae Spears, respectively, and the team has 1,000-yard receiver DeAndre Hopkins and 23-year-old former first-round pick Treylon Burks to build the rest of its offense around.

Overhauling the offensive line, which has allowed 258 pressures, 152 hurries, 62 sacks and 56 QB hits, and revamping the secondary, which has the fewest interceptions in the league (four) and allowed the fourth-highest passer rating (97.6) and completion percentage (73.4), are among the top priorities for Vrabel and Carthon this offseason.
