Mike Vrabel: Ryan Tannehill took advantage of opportunity and 'has not looked back'

In seven seasons with the Miami Dolphins, Ryan Tannehill didn't find much success. Since joining the Tennessee Titans in 2019, the veteran quarterback has impressed under Mike Vrabel.

The Titans head coach praised Tannehill on Thursday, telling reporters that the 32-year-old can do it all.

“Ryan’s worked very hard,” Vrabel told Houston reporters on Thursday, according to Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio. “He came in as a backup and made the switch. He’s become a very efficient quarterback for us. A very good leader. This team means a lot to him. He’s a captain, obviously. In his command and what we’re trying to do each and every week, gets us in the right plays. He gets the ball out of his hands. He can keep plays alive. He can scramble.

“I think he’s having fun. I think he’s enjoying it. That’s something that he would say is that he’s having fun and took advantage of the opportunity last year when it came to him and certainly has not looked back.”

In his first season with the Titans, Tannehill went 7-3, leading the team to the AFC Championship game against the Kansas City Chiefs. He's now 4-0 on the current season with wins over the Denver Broncos, Jacksonville Jaguars, Minnesota Vikings and Buffalo Bills.

Tannehill very well could win his next game against the Houston Texans, too, who are struggling.

If he continues playing the way he has, the Titans could very well find themselves back in the AFC title game for the second season in a row, and that's something no one could've guessed for Tannehill three-to-four years ago.
