The Minnesota Vikings are fighting for their playoff lives. With a 7-8 record, they have to win tonight’s game to avoid almost certain elimination from playoff contention. Because of this, the Vikings have decided to make a sudden change in the quarterback position.

Jaren Hall Benched

The Minnesota Vikings trailed the Green Bay Packers 23-3 at halftime. Before the beginning of the second half, NBC sideline reporter Melissa Stark interviewed with Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell. During that interview, O’Connell revealed that he was making a change at quarterback and that Nick Mullens would start the second half.

It was an ugly first half for Hall. He went just 5-10 with 67 passing yards and an interception. This was only Hall’s third career NFL appearance. He had just 101 passing yards before tonight’s game.

Minnesota Vikings Moving Forward

It is safe to say that the Vikings have not had a stable answer at quarterback since Kirk Cousins tore his Achilles. Despite Mullens having three appearances for the Vikings this season, O’Connell decided to go in a different direction to start tonight’s game. It did not help that Minnesota went 0-2 in the games that Mullens started. Now, Minnesota can only hope he has a big second half tonight.
