Mitch Trubisky named Steelers captain, but does that mean he's starting?

When it comes to this year's NFL quarterback battles, the Pittsburgh Steelers have most teams beat. And the question of who will start under center in Week 1 got even more interesting when signal-caller Mitch Trubisky was named one of the team's captains on Monday -- even though it still isn't confirmed whether he is starting on Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Regardless of whether he starts or not, Trubisky has clearly grown into a leadership role on the Steelers -- and a humble leader at that, as the North Carolina product displayed while talking to the press on Monday.

While head coach Mike Tomlin still hasn't announced who will start Sunday's game, the general consensus is that Trubisky has earned the call over rookie Kenny Pickett. Both QBs played during last week's preseason finale, with Trubisky ending the day completing 15-of-19 passes for 160 yards with one touchdown.

"I think it was important to establish a rhythm and score points," Trubisky said of the touchdown drive, via CBS Sports. "We wanted to come away with more touchdowns early on, but we settled for field goals, so we'll look back and get better at that. But I think to finish with a touchdown was important. ... It was good to go out there and get a half in. I felt like we got more of a rhythm."

When asked if he knew yet if he will start in Week 1, Trubisky played coy.

"The announcement will come out when it comes out, but you're not going to hear it from me," he said with a chuckle.
