Salary cap constraints forced the Buffalo Bills to ditch Mitch Morse, but he's nonetheless grateful for his time in Western New York.
Morse is donning new spots as he's set to sign with the Jacksonville Jaguars with free agency negotiations in full swing. Part of a noteworthy contingent bid farewell by financial requirements, Morse penned a heartfelt statement of gratitude on Instagram, accompanying his thanks with a photo of him walking off the Bills' practice field with his children Kennedy and Deacon in his hands.
"These last five years have been such a blessing. Thank you to the Pegula family, along with the whole Buffalo Bills organization for helping make Western New York home for me and my family," Morse wrote. "There are plenty of things that I will miss, but nothing will compare to (the) sadness of no longer being a part of that locker room. It was a special place full of special dudes. Much love!"
Morse began his career as a second-round pick of Kansas City's but made a true name for himself in Orchard Park after inking a deal that made him the highest-paid center in football for a time. He was a lasting presence on the Buffalo line, serving as one of the lasting faces of the team's ongoing run of prosperity.
The center, who turns 32 in April, earned Pro Bowl honors after the 2022 campaign partaking in the revamped skills competition alongside teammates Josh Allen, Dion Dawkins, Stefon Diggs, Dawson Knox, Matt Milano, Rodger Saffold, and fellow salary cap cut Jordan Poyer.
Buffalo fans won't have to wait long for a reunion: the Jaguars are set to visit Highmark Stadium at some point this fall as part of the Bills' four-game AFC South slate. Though Morse will don different colors, there's no doubt he should earn a warm reception and a video tribute on the Orchard Park big screens.
