Multiple Ravens players test positive for COVID-19

The Baltimore Ravens announced that multiple players tested positive for COVID-19 and that those players are in self-isolation while the team begins contact-tracing. Baltimore also announced that the Under Armour Performance Center will be closed as the team attempts to prevent an outbreak.

"We will continue to work closely with and follow guidance from the NFL, team doctors and our medical trainers," the team announced.

The Ravens are currently scheduled to play the Pittsburgh Steelers on Thanksgiving, and according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, that game "remains on as scheduled." Assuming the team does not have any additional positive tests, the Ravens should be able to face off against the Steelers, though without the players who have tested positive. The Steelers had their own brush with COVID a few weeks ago, with quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and several others ending up on the COVID-19 list.

This is another setback in an already disappointing season for Baltimore. While the Ravens expected to be serious title contenders, they have looked like they are unable to keep up with elite teams or even, for that matter, really good teams, as evidenced by their back-to-back losses to the New England Patriots and Tennessee Titans.

The NFL is attempting to get to the finish line this season despite multiple teams testing positive for COVID-19 over the course of the season. Rather than create a bubble, the league has opted for consistent testing and protocols to complete the season. The league has a 16-team playoff plan in place if it is unable to finish the season as scheduled.
