Myles Garrett: Browns defense 'will look very scary' after offseason additions
The Cleveland Browns ended an 18-year playoff drought in January and then notched a postseason victory at the rival Pittsburgh Steelers. Cleveland's front office unofficially commemorated those achievements by landing multiple big defensive names in free agency, such as safety John Johnson, 2017 first-round pick Takkarist McKinley, and 2014 No. 1 draft selection Jadeveon Clowney.
All-Pro pass-rusher Myles Garrett spoke Thursday at an event in downtown Cleveland about what could be to come for Cleveland's defense.
"With the pieces we have now, I think we're gonna look very scary," Garrett explained. "Looking forward to it."
Garrett also spoke about playing on the same defensive line as Clowney.
"He's an athletic specimen like someone I know on the Browns," Garrett joked about Clowney while offering a smirk.
With the NFL salary cap dropping by nearly $16 million for the 2021 season, both McKinley and Clowney signed one-year "prove it" contracts with the Browns. Clowney said earlier this month he's looking to silence doubters after a down 2020 campaign.
"I just want to show I'm still an elite player. Prove I can still dominate...gonna see this season," he remarked.
