The Los Angeles Rams have been fairly active in free agency so far, and one of the most important signings for the team was tight end Colby Parkinson.

Tyler Higbee will most likely miss a significant amount of time with an injury that he sustained against the Detroit Lions in the Wild Card round of the playoffs, and that's where Parkinson comes in.

In his presser following his official signing with the Rams, Parkinson told the media that the negotiation process with the team did not last long at all.

"I think the negotiations lasted a few hours and that was it," Parkinson said. "It was back and forth, back and forth, done. So both parties wanted to get it done as fast as possible, and I'm excited that it happened the way it did."

Parkinson previously played for the division rival Seattle Seahawks and was a backup to Noah Fant. He has not had much of a chance to show what he can really do in his young career, and that's exactly what he will be looking to do with the Rams.

He is only 25 years old and could prove to be an intriguing fit for the Rams' passing offense.

“Yeah, I think it's just a natural fit," Parkinson said. "They do a lot of great things on the offense. (Head Coach) Sean (McVay) does a great job and I think the way I can present myself as a three-down tight end really fits the mold."

Parkinson prides himself in being a guy who can go get a good block as well as being a threat to catch the ball and take it to the house.

"I think (I am) a complete tight end, someone that can play all three downs and stretch the field at the same time," Parkinson said. "Be able to stretch the seams and be a red zone threat while also being dominant in the run game is kind of what I pride myself on, so looking forward to being that guy and being a cornerstone of the offense.”

That is something that the team could use in their effort to make the playoffs again and contend this season.

And he is excited to get to work and help them achieve just that.

"Excited to get to work," Parkinson said. "Excited to go earn it out there and have some fun along the way.”
