NBA referees condemn Dak Prescott over comments about throwing things at officials
Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott either jokingly or seriously defended unhappy fans who supposedly tossed bottles and other items toward referees shortly after Sunday's home playoff loss to the San Francisco 49ers. Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones made it clear Monday he in no way supports such actions, and a different organization criticized Dallas' QB1 on Tuesday.
The official Twitter account for the National Basketball Referees Association hit out at Prescott and also asked "the NFL to take action to discourage this deplorable behavior in the future" coming off the events at AT&T Stadium on Sunday:
It was initially thought at least some fans were responding to the defeat by throwing objects at Dallas players, and it's since been suggested anybody identified as one of the culprits could be banned from attending future games. An unhappy Jones told local radio station 105.3 The Fan on Monday "there is just no place for" such actions inside NFL stadiums.
As Mike Florio explained for Pro Football Talk, Prescott hadn't yet walked back his postgame comments as of early Tuesday evening. One wonders if either the NFL or the Cowboys will make him address the matter again at some point this week.
