Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Kadarius Toney Jay Biggerstaff-USA TODAY Sports

The Kansas City Chiefs feel they were robbed of a victory by a bad call on Sunday night, but a new angle of the play further proves that their frustrations should be solely directed toward Kadarius Toney.

Toney was called for being lined up offsides late in the Chiefs’ 20-17 loss to the Buffalo Bills at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City on Sunday. The crucial mistake negated what would have been an incredible go-ahead touchdown from Toney, who caught a lateral pass from Travis Kelce and scored.

Replays showed that Toney lined up in the neutral zone, at the very minimum. Jonathan Jones of CBS Sports shared a new angle of the pre-snap formation on Monday morning. Toney was so far beyond the line of scrimmage that half of his body was positioned past the ball.

You can see a closer view below:

It is mind-boggling that Toney did not realize he needed to take a step back. Then again, those who remember the wide receiver’s ghastly performance in Week 1 probably were not all that surprised.

Patrick Mahomes was in disbelief that Toney was called for being offsides. The quarterback obviously felt an official was splitting hairs at a crucial moment in the game. What Mahomes seemed to ignore with his sideline meltdown is that his teammate made an egregious mistake that could not be overlooked.

Being upset over a costly call is one thing, but Mahomes went way overboard. He was still complaining when he and Josh Allen shook hands on the field after the game. Mahomes then made an outrageous claim during his postgame press conference about how the call will impact Kelce’s career.

You have to wonder if Mahomes regretted the way he acted after seeing all the replays.
