The preseason game between the New England Patriots and Green Bay Packers was called early due to a scary injury to Isaiah Bolden. After incidental helmet-to-helmet contact, Bolden stayed down not moving. He was taken to the hospital and initial reports were that he could still move his extremities. This morning, head coach Bill Belichick gave a positive update on the rookie cornerback.

New England Patriots Isaiah Bolden Injury Update

Belichick had this to say about Bolden.

“He flew back with us [Sunday],” Belichick said to WEEI Monday morning. “I talked to Isaiah [on Sunday], and he’s in good spirits. Recovering, obviously. So we’ll just take it day to day. But he certainly seems a lot better today than it looked like Saturday night, so that’s a good thing. It’s good for him to fly back with the team and everyone see him. He’s got a lot of support here.”

It is always good news when the player is out of the hospital and back with the team. Regardless of if he is healthy enough to play, having him around his team is a positive for everyone.

Change To The Schedule

The game was called early in the fourth quarter. New England had scheduled joint practices with the Tennessee Titans for this week but those were promptly canceled. This is a good move as these joint practices have seen many fights and the Patriots do not want more players risking injury. They will play one final preseason game in Tennessee but I expect the team to be very cautious with their players.

The timeline of when Isaiah Bolden will see the field again is unclear but at this point, it doesn’t matter. The New England Patriots are happy to have him back with the team and will prepare for the beginning of the season without having to worry about one of their own in the hospital.
