The New Orleans Saints have kept a relatively low profile this offseason, with their most notable move being the signing of Chase Young.

However, whispers abound regarding potential significant maneuvers on the horizon. One such rumor suggests the possible departure of Marshon Lattimore via trade, while speculation swirls about the Saints bolstering their receiving corps with a seasoned veteran.

Recently, the Saints found themselves linked to discussions surrounding the acquisition of a former highly touted quarterback.

In a recent CBS Sports piece penned by Cody Benjamin, various trade rumors across the NFL landscape were dissected. Among the players under scrutiny was New York Jets quarterback Zach Wilson, with Benjamin listing New Orleans as one of three potential suitors for the young signal-caller.

Acknowledging the tepid market for Wilson, Benjamin proposed, “at just 24 with dual-threat traits, Wilson could be a low-risk reclamation project for a contender.”

Recent NFL trades, such as Justin Fields to the Pittsburgh Steelers, Kenny Pickett to the Philadelphia Eagles, and Mac Jones to the Jacksonville Jaguars, serve as precedents for such transformative moves.

The prospect of Zach Wilson donning the black and gold of the New Orleans Saints looms large, although other teams like the Kansas City Chiefs and the Los Angeles Rams have also been named as potential destinations.

It appears highly improbable that the 2021 No. 2 overall draft pick will continue his tenure with the Jets, where he started 33 of 34 games played, amassing 6,293 yards, 23 touchdowns, and 25 interceptions.

While the Saints boast Derek Carr as their established starter, the depth of their quarterback room remains a point of concern. Nathan Peterman’s recent signing adds depth, though his role may lean more towards that of an extension of the coaching staff.

Meanwhile, Jake Haener’s potential impact remains uncertain. Bringing Wilson into the fold could offer depth, yet the move may not significantly alter the Saints’ quarterback landscape.
