The New York Giants have agreed to sign Houston Texans running back Devin Singletary, according to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.

It’s a three-year, $16.5 million deal that could worth up to $19.5 million in incentives, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

The news comes after the Giants lost two-time Pro Bowl halfback Saquon Barkley to the division-rival Philadelphia Eagles.

Singletary is coming off of a 2023 campaign in which he played every game and rushed for 898 yards and four touchdowns while averaging 4.2 yards per carry. He added 30 catches for 193 yards.

The 26-year-old, who played his collegiate football at Florida Atlantic, was originally selected by the Buffalo Bills in the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft.

He appeared in 12 contests during his rookie year and was solid, registering 775 yards and a couple of scores on the ground while logging a robust 5.1 yards per attempt. He also caught 29 passes for 174 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

The following year, Singletary took a bit of a step back, finishing with 687 yards and two touchdowns as a rusher, posting 4.4 yards per tote.

Then, in 2021, Singletary rebounded with 870 yards while reaching the end zone seven times on the ground, recording 4.6 yards per carry. Plus, he hauled in 40 receptions for 228 yards and a touchdown.

He went on to tally very similar numbers in 2022, rushing for 819 yards and five scores while once again averaging 4.6 yards per attempt.

That ensuing offseason, Singletary signed with the Texans.

He isn’t Barkley, but, at the very least, Devin Singletary has been a consistent contributor who has been able to stay on the field.
