Joe Namath is a legend that matters to the New York Jets organization. What he says about the team is something that many fans listen to closely. Namath has been very vocal about his love of the Aaron Rodgers trade. He heaped on more praise this week amidst Rodgers taking a pay cut to help the team.

Joe Namath Praises The Character Of Aaron Rodgers

Namath went on The Jake Asman Show on ESPN New York 98.7 FM and talked about the massive pay cut that Rodgers took.

“It’s a great sign, a great exhibition of his character. Just the way he is. He wants to win and he wants that team he’s on to win. And he already likes the area, the coaches, the people around there — the teammates especially — and he wants to them to know, ‘Hey, we’re in this a couple of times. We want to win now. If we don’t, we’re going to win it next year.’ To have him for two seasons and for him to show his appreciation of being with the Jets and his teammates and coaches, man, is just wonderful.”

The move does two things. It gives the team a better commitment from the 39-year-old quarterback. It also gives the front office more flexibility in order to bring in more players to help the team capture that elusive Super Bowl.

Will Players Flock To New York?

It seems every disgruntled player is being projected to the Jets. In the past month, there have been rumors about Dalvin Cook, Davante Adams, Jonathan Taylor, and many more coming to the Jets in one way or another. The question remains whether any of these players will find their way to New York but the fact remains they are in the mix. The Jets have a limited window. Rodgers will not be able to play forever. The good news is it gives them time to try and find someone before the star quarterback retires.

Joe Namath is a fan of Aaron Rodgers. Both his play on the field and his character off the field is impressing the legendary quarterback. Will Rodgers be able to deliver a championship?
