The New York Jets are in need of some weapons for Aaron Rodgers, and thus far this offseason, they have been unable to deliver.

However, there is still time left for the Jets to add another wide receiver, and according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, that is what they plan on doing.

Schefter reports that New York will be meeting with former Los Angeles Chargers wide out Mike Williams on Monday night following Williams’ recent release.

Williams tore his ACL this past season and was limited to just three games as a result. The Chargers released him as a cost-cutting measure last week.

The 29-year-old, who played his collegiate football at Clemson, was selected by Los Angeles with the seventh overall pick of the 2017 NFL Draft.

After an uneventful rookie campaign, Williams flashed his big-play ability during his sophomore season, catching 43 passes for 664 yards and 10 touchdowns.

The following year, Williams broke out, hauling in 49 receptions for 1,001 yards and a couple of scores. That was good for a ridiculous average of 20.4 yards per catch.

After taking a bit of a step back in 2020, Williams enjoyed the best year of his career in 2021, snaring 76 balls for 1,146 yards while reaching the end zone nine times.

In Williams’ most recent healthy season in 2022, he registered 63 catches for 895 yards and four touchdowns.

The Jets desperately need a complement to Garrett Wilson, who has posted back-to-back 1,000-yard campaigns in each of his first two NFL seasons.

If they strike out on Williams, they may have to resort to the NFL Draft next month. Williams will also be meeting with the Carolina Panthers and Pittsburgh Steelers.
