The New York Jets want to add more weapons for quarterback Aaron Rodgers, and they will be meeting with one of the top playmakers in the NFL Draft on Monday.

According to Peter Schrager of Fox Sports, the Jets are visiting with University of Georgia tight end Brock Bowers, who is the top player at his position in this year’s draft class.

New York owns the 10th overall pick in the draft later this month, and Bowers has long been viewed as a potential get for the club at that spot.

Bowers is coming off of a terrific 2023 campaign in which he caught 56 passes for 714 yards and six touchdowns. He also punched in a rushing score.

The 21-year-old arrived at Georgia in 2021 and immediately made a major impact, snaring 56 balls for 882 yards and 13 touchdowns in his freshman season. Like in his final year, he scored a rushing touchdown, as well.

Bowers then hauled in 63 receptions for 942 yards while reaching the end zone seven times as a receiver in his second year with the Bulldogs, also adding three scores on the ground.

The 6-foot-3, 243-pounder became the first player ever to win the John Mackey award for the NCAA’s top tight end in back-to-back campaigns and is considered a generational talent by many.

The Jets actually already have a solid tight end of their own in Tyler Conklin, so the position is not exactly one of major need for Gang Green.

New York may actually be better served taking an offensive lineman, where the club still has holes in spite of making some significant additions along that front in free agency.

Still, a player of Bowers’ caliber may be too tantalizing for the Jets to ignore, especially with Aaron Rodgers under center.
