Caleb Williams is expected to be selected first overall by the Chicago Bears in the NFL Draft on Thursday night, and Fox Sports analyst Skip Bayless thinks he can be the next Patrick Mahomes.

During a recent episode of FS1’s Undisputed, Bayless sang Williams’ praises, saying he would take him any day over LSU’s Jayden Daniels and that he is “Mahomes-ian.”

That is a bold take, for sure.

Williams is considered a generational prospect by some, but if he ends up being like Mahomes, that means he will be one of the best quarterbacks of all time.

The 22-year-old is coming off of a 2023 campaign in which he threw for 3,633 yards, 30 touchdowns and five interceptions while completing 68.6 percent of his passes. He also punched in 11 rushing scores.

Williams began his collegiate career at Oklahoma in 2021 and spent one year with the Sooners before transferring to USC the following season.

In his debut campaign with the Trojans, Williams totaled 4,537 yards, 42 touchdowns and five picks while completing 66.6 percent of his throws. He also rushed for 382 yards and 10 scores.

Williams was actually a bit disappointing this past year, but that hasn’t changed the opinions of many who view him as a potential superstar on the NFL level.

But will he end up having a Mahomes-like career?

That seems unlikely given how phenomena Patrick Mahomes is, but if Caleb Williams is able to reach that level, the Bears will certainly will be more than thrilled. And potentially the next dominant NFC team.
