NFL announces details of Pro Bowl flag football games

The NFL already announced that major changes were coming to this year's Pro Bowl in the form of a flag football competition.

Now we know exactly what that will look like.

The NFL officially announced the format for this year's competition on Thursday, and it will feature three separate seven-on-seven flag football games that are 20 minutes in length on 50-yard fields. 

Along with the flag football games, there will be three other events taking place on Sunday, February 5.

Those events include:

• The Gridiron Gauntlet, a full-field relay race featuring six players from each the AFC and NFC.
• A move the chains competition, which will be a competition for offensive and defensive lineman testing their strength and speed.
• The Finals of a best catch competition that will begin on Thursday and continue throughout the week. 

All of these events will take place in Las Vegas, with the flag football games being played at Allegiant Stadium, home of the Las Vegas Raiders. 

These changes come after the Pro Bowl had become somewhat of a joke in recent years given the way players showed almost no effort in games. With injury concerns growing every year, the speed of the game and rules turned it into a shell of a football game and minor tweaks (including fantasy drafts) were not enough to keep people or players interested. 

Instead of continuing on with that, the league just scrapped the traditional game and is trying this.
