The Odell Beckham Jr. sweepstakes heated up right around the holidays as he was given full clearance to return to football activities. He was linked to a number of teams around the league as interest in him reached a fever pitch.

Odell Beckham Jr. ended up making visits to a few teams as contenders were interested in adding the All-Pro to their lineup for the stretch run of the season. However, interest in him cooled after his meeting and physical with the Dallas Cowboys was not overly positive.

The Cowboys didn’t believe that Odell Beckham Jr. would be able to help them on the field this season. Looking for someone that could help them sooner, Dallas opted to sign T.Y. Hilton instead.

Odell Beckham Jr. also visited the Buffalo Bills and New York Giants, but nothing came to fruition at either of those spots either. All three teams are still alive in the postseason, so it was clear the kind of team that he was looking to join. He wanted to contend for a Super Bowl after helping the Los Angeles Rams win last season before tearing his ACL in the game.

With free agency right around the corner, interest in Odell Beckham Jr. will once again pick up. He will be one of the best wide receiver options on the open market and there are plenty of teams that could use an infusion of talent at the position. An NFL executive that spoke to NFL Analysis Network believes that Odell Beckham Jr. will opt to return to a team that he knows well.

“He’s going to be a hot commodity this offseason if his health is at 100 percent. But, he wants to be back with the Giants. That’s what he’s going to try to get done over anything.”

New York has made an unexpected run this season, going 9-7-1 to earn a Wild Card spot in the regular season. Their magical season continued with an upset over the Minnesota Vikings during Super Wild Card Weekend as they are now set to take on their NFC East rivals, the Philadelphia Eagles.

Coming back and winning with the franchise that selected him 12th overall in the 2014 NFL Draft has seemed to be something Odell Beckham Jr. has been very open to. With a massive need at the wide receiver position, it could be a match made in heaven this offseason between the two sides.

We have already seen one former Giant in safety Landon Collins make a triumphant return to the team this season and he has become an integral part of the team’s defense. Odell Beckham Jr. could have a similar impact on the offense should he return to Big Blue as well.
