Could the Kansas City Chiefs make a push for Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson?

Jefferson is still without a new contract as he enters the final year of his deal, which has prompted trade speculation.

But would the Vikings seriously trade Jefferson?

A former NFL executive tells the NFL Analysis Network that he thinks Minnesota will ultimately lock up the superstar pass-catcher on a long-term deal, but if the two sides are unable to get anything done, he says the Chiefs are a possibility

“I still think the Vikings and Justin Jefferson get something done. However, if the talks fall apart further and they look to move him, I’ve heard the Chiefs would go all-out to get him,” the former exec said. “A duo of [Patrick] Mahomes and Jefferson would be unstoppable.”

It would be unstoppable, indeed.

The Chiefs were in clear need of some weapons in their passing game this past season, as Rashee Rice represented the club’s only dependable wide out. Mahomes was able to lead Kansas City to a Super Bowl title in spite of that, but it certainly wasn’t an easy ride.

The Chiefs attempted to remedy the issue this offseason by signing Marquise Brown in free agency, but shortly after the club landed Brown, Rice was involved in a six-car automobile accident and is facing some serious potential charges that could ultimately end his NFL career.

If Rice ends up missing 2024, Kansas City will essentially be back at square one as far as its receiving corps is concerned.

That is, of course, unless it lands Jefferson.

The Chiefs would have to pay a hefty price for Jefferson, both in terms of draft compensation and how much money it will have to give him in an extension.

That is not something Kansas City typically does, but for Justin Jefferson, it may make an exception.
