NFL fans aren’t cutting Joseph Ossai any slack

NFL fans are leaving harsh comments for a Cincinnati Bengals defensive end who made a crucial mistake Sunday. On the Kansas City Chiefs’ final drive, Joseph Ossai tackled already-injured quarterback Patrick Mahomes out of bounds. The Bengals were flagged for a late hit. The penalty put the Chiefs, which were on the cusp of a field goal, well within range.

Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker drilled a 45-yard field goal on the next play to send Kansas City to the Super Bowl with a 23-20 win. Cameras showed the second-year defender visibly shaken on the sideline after the game.

It was a bad mistake by Ossai, who had been playing well until the game-changing penalty. The hit was unnecessary at that point in the game. Because of Mahomes’ injury, Mahomes was no threat to try and gain extra yards Sunday; he was just trying to get out of bounds.

Fans react on Twitter

After the game, NFL fans took to social media to roast Ossai for the late hit. Some Bengals fans were over the top with anger. Others just had humorous takes. Here are the best takes of Ossai’s late-game penalty costing the Bengals.
