Former Washington Nationals shortstop Trea Turner got paid handsomely in free agency by the rival Philadelphia Phillies leading up to the 2023 season. The football player -- spelled Trai, not Trea -- is still waiting for such an offer, after spending the 2022 campaign with the Washington Commanders

But according to Heavy, Turner "has garnered interest from multiple teams, but no deal is imminent."

Turner signed a one-year, $3 million deal with the Commanders last May, after single-season stints with the Los Angeles Chargers and Pittsburgh Steelers, respectively. He served as a replacement for former All-Pro Brandon Scherff, who left to sign a three-year, $49.5 million deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars, a pact that guaranteed him $30 million and ended his seven-year stint with Washington.

A third-round pick out of LSU in the 2014 NFL Draft, Turner spent the first six years of his career with the Carolina Panthers, playing under now-Commanders head coach Ron Rivera. The offensive guard made five Pro Bowl appearances over that period, doing so every year from 2015-2019.

The Commanders signed right tackle Andrew Wylie to a three-year, $24 million deal this offseason, and the former Kansas City Chiefs offensive lineman is expected to be the starting right tackle for new offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy. That may mean that Sam Cosmi -- a natural right tackle selected in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft -- slides from tackle to right guard in 2023.
