Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is going into 2022 with a new contract after repeating as MVP. Although he’s back in Green Bay, a lot has changed this offseason. The Packers traded Davante Adams and spent their first-round picks improving the defense. They also added rookie Christian Watson to the wide receiver room. Regardless of all of these changes, Rodgers finds himself with the third-lowest odds of winning MVP in 2022.

Rodgers +1000 odds

According to DraftKings, Rodgers is not the top favorite to win the award again, but is right in the mix. Rodgers enters the season +1000. Ahead of him are Josh Allen, Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes. Allen leads the pack at +700, while Brady and Mahomes come in at +800 and +900, respectively. Brady finished second in MVP voting behind Rodgers last season, collecting 10 votes. The last player to win three straight MVP awards was actually Rodgers’ predecessor, Brett Favre.

Dark-horse candidates to dethrone Rodgers

The only player to collect an MVP vote last season besides Rodgers or Brady was Cooper Kupp. Kupp begins the season with +6000 odds. Although he isn’t an early favorite, Kupp — with Matthew Stafford as his trigger man — can definitely give Rodgers some competition for the award.

Lamar Jackson is another name who comes to mind. Jackson was the last player to win MVP not named Aaron Rodgers. Jackson’s 2021 was plagued with injury like much of the Ravens roster. In 2022, Jackson will have all his weapons back at his disposal. Jackson has the talent to be the MVP once again, and is playing to earn a new contract. DraftKings gives Jackson +2000 odds to be named MVP.
