NFL has not made decision on reversal of one-helmet rule

The NFL acknowledged that the one-helmet rule could change in 2021. However, it doesn't seem like much progress has been made on reversing the rule.

A league spokesman said there has been no decision regarding the possibility that teams could be permitted to allow players to use more than one helmet during the season, according to Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio.

Allowing teams to use more than one helmet would enable them to wear throwback uniforms with a special helmet to accompany the threads. The NFL has allowed throwback jerseys, but they don't look nearly as good without the matching helmets.

The NFL banned throwback helmets in 2013, ruling that players must wear their regular helmets throughout the season.

This news comes after Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry advocated for throwback helmets in a Twitter post on Friday.
