The New England Patriots are facing a pivotal decision with the third overall pick in the upcoming 2024 NFL Draft.

With various possibilities on the table, the most probable route for the Patriots seems to be targeting a quarterback.

Following the departure of Mac Jones to the Jacksonville Jaguars and the signing of Jacoby Brissett in free agency, the Patriots find themselves in need of a long-term solution at the quarterback position.

Under the helm of new head coach Jerod Mayo, revitalizing the offense becomes a top priority, and selecting the right quarterback in the draft could be instrumental in achieving this goal.

While there’s speculation about the Patriots potentially trading down to accumulate more picks for roster rebuilding, indications from team owner Robert Kraft, as conveyed by Albert Breer of The MMQB, suggest a strong inclination towards securing a new signal caller.

“If you trade down, you lose the certainty that you’re gonna get the quarterback you want and I do think ownership wants a quarterback here.”

Should the Patriots decide to stay put, there will likely be considerable interest from other teams looking to move up in the draft. However, indications suggest that the Patriots are content to let the draft board unfold and select the best available quarterback.

With highly touted prospects like Caleb Williams expected to be off the board by then, the Patriots could find themselves with options such as Jayden Daniels or Drake Maye.

Both prospects offer significant potential and could serve as the catalyst for the Patriots’ resurgence.

We’ll find out for sure what the Patriots are going to do on Thursday night this week when the 2024 NFL Draft gets underway.
