As the NFL Combine kicks off this week, Falcons brass is likely mingling with other executives about the prospect of trading up in the NFL draft.

Last week, Steve Wyche and Daniel Jeremiah stated that they believe Terry Fontenot will be aggressive in trading up the board. On Monday, Wyche doubled down, telling 92.9 The Game’s Dukes and Bell that he was told the Falcons will in fact be aggressive in going up and drafting their quarterback.

My thoughts immediately go to the Bears, Commanders, and Patriots, who hold the first selections in the draft. Many believe the first three picks will be Caleb Williams, Drake Maye, and Jayden Daniels in some order.

However, in his final column, Peter King dropped this nugget, “I suppose the Bears are going to trade the top pick. I know nothing, but that seems to be the way the wind is blowing.”

It wasn’t a report, but King would go on to expand on his belief that Chicago would trade down to Washington’s No. 2 pick and then again to Atlanta’s No. 8 pick, moving down twice.

The Falcons would then be in a position to draft a top quarterback prospect. The expectation would be that Caleb Williams would still go first, and Atlanta would have a choice between Drake Maye and Jayden Daniels.

The next question many would have is what would it cost. For starters, it would involve a pair of first-round picks and a player, which is the package the Bears received for the No. 1 pick last year from the Panthers.

It would probably cost more than that, but you get the picture; it’s going to cost considerable capital to move up to any of the first three picks.
