NFL insider explains why LeSean McCoy criticized Eric Bieniemy

There's more information about why former Kansas City Chiefs running back LeSean McCoy seemingly criticized new Washington Commanders offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy.

"It’s personal," Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio explained during an appearance on Pittsburgh's 93.7 The Fan, per Jordan Bondurant of the Barrett Sports Media website. "He’s got sour grapes. The fact that multiple other receivers have come out and refuted him I think says everything. The fact that Tyreek Hill, who’s disgruntled about the way things ended in Kansas City, is on Bieniemy's side in this is also very telling."

McCoy, who played under the then-Chiefs offensive coordinator during the 2019 season, generated headlines when he recently suggested during an FS1 appearance that Bieniemy received too much credit for Kansas City's offensive successes.

PFT's Michael David Smith noted on Wednesday that several of McCoy’s former teammates took to Twitter to defend Bieniemy.

Among those players was Hill, who was traded by the Chiefs to the Miami Dolphins last offseason. Hill hinted Bieniemy instructed McCoy to hold the football differently to avoid costly fumbles during games:

"It’s one guy who had a bad experience with the Chiefs," Florio continued about McCoy.

Florio added that "it’s great" that Hill had Bieniemy's back "because he doesn’t have a reason to say anything nice about the Chiefs or Bieniemy at this point because it didn’t end well for him in Kansas City."

While speaking on Thursday, Bieniemy made it known that McCoy's criticism "does not impact me in any way." Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes responded to the coordinator's comments:
