The Miami Dolphins have one of the more shocking head coaching vacancies this offseason.

That came with firing Brian Flores after he posted back-to-back winning seasons.

But there was clearly a major culture clash within the organization and leadership decided Flores had to go.

That has the team battling it out with one-quarter of the rest of the NFL for a new head coach.

Nathaniel Hackett and Matt Eberflus are officially off the market after landing jobs with the Denver Broncos and Chicago Bears, respectively.

Dan Quinn has also removed his name from the running and will stay with the Dallas Cowboys.

NFL insider Ian Rapoport has revealed the Dolphins aren’t too worried about Thursday’s activity.

In fact, they are going on as scheduled with second interviews.

Three offensive coordinator in Kellen Moore , Mike McDaniel, and Brian Daboll are set to get another interview next week.

Miami clearly wants an offensive mind to work with Tua Tagovailoa, or perhaps a new quarterback that arrives via a blockbuster deal.

A Certain Type In Mind

All three names mentioned by Rapoport are great choices.

Daboll may be atop the list as he worked with Tagovailoa at Alabama and has most recently molded Josh Allen into a superstar.

Then there is Moore, a former southpaw quarterback himself who is still only 33 years old.

He has risen up the ranks with the Cowboys and teams around the NFL have to love the way he has made Dak Prescott look like a perennial Pro Bowler, at least during the regular season.

McDaniel may be the most unique choice of all.

He has spent years working alongside Kyle Shanahan and recently became offensive coordinator in San Francisco this season.

A great game this weekend may seal his case as the top choice.

The Dolphins are staying patient and not being reactionary.

That could mean they finally get a coach who will stick around for more than a few seasons.
