The Los Angeles Chargers have a lot of new faces in the building, including head coach Jim Harbaugh. With a tough salary capsulation, they could look to move players during the next phase of the offseason in order to clear cap space.
According to Dianna Russini, the Chargers are open to trading many veterans, including Joey Bosa and Khalil Mack.
A trade would reward LA with some sort of compensation, rather than releasing them for nothing.
That being said, with the daunting price tags of Mack and Bosa, they probably won't fetch a top-line pick in this year's NFL Draft. Expect something in the middle rounds.
Bosa has two years remaining on a five-year, $135 million contract that he signed in 2020. Injuries have limited Bosa's availability over the past two years. He just has not been able to stay on the field.
Bosa missed 12 games in 2022 and eight games last season.
For Mack, he was an impressive impact player for a horrid Chargers defense in 2023. He totaled 17 sacks and 74 total tackles. Losing him would leave quite the hole, but it may be the smartest move for the team's long-term future.
