NFL insider says there's a 'real possibility' that Aaron Rodgers is traded this offseason

As the NFL world looks forward to another offseason filled with speculation surrounding Aaron Rodgers' future with the Green Bay Packers, ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter believes a trade is possible.

"Both sides are fully aware that a trade is a very real scenario this offseason for Aaron Rodgers," Schefter said.

Schefter cites the quarterback's previous indecision and that Green Bay will probably part ways with "certain players" this offseason as reasons a trade could happen. The biggest hurdle for the Packers, Schefter mentioned, will be finding a team that will take on the $110 million remaining on Rodgers' contract, which runs through 2026.

Earlier this week, during an appearance on "The Pat McAfee Show," Rodgers hinted that he wants no part of a rebuild. If that's the case, convincing Rodgers might be impossible for the Packers, who finished 8-9  and look far away from contending in the NFC.

Rodgers struggled in his 18th NFL season. The 39-year-old threw for only 3,695 yards, the lowest total of his career when playing an entire season. Rodgers was also intercepted 12 times in 2022, his most since throwing 13 in 2008, which was essentially his rookie year.

After Rodgers' down year, the Packers might be ready to move on too. According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Packers backup quarterback and former first-round pick, Jordan Love, believes he's ready to start in 2023, adding another wrinkle to the Rodgers saga.
