Several NFL head coaches will likely be fired after the regular season concludes on Sunday, and a notable NFC coach is expected to be among them.

The Washington Commanders are planning to part ways with Ron Rivera, according to Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero of NFL Media.

New team owner Josh Harris has yet to finalize a decision on Rivera and wanted to let the entire season play out, but the Commanders have lost seven straight games entering Sunday’s matchup against the Dallas Cowboys. They are 4-12 and have yet to win a game against the NFC East.

General manager Martin Mayhew could also be fired.

Rivera was hired by Washington in 2020. He led the team to a playoff appearance in his first season with a 7-9 record. The Commanders then went 7-10 in 2021 and 8-8-1 last season.

The Commanders made some significant staff changes back in November, and Harris indicated at the time that more would be coming. Rivera has been firmly on the hot seat for quite some and the team has continued to struggle.

Rivera, who turned 62 on Sunday, coached the Carolina Panthers for seven-plus seasons before being hired in Washington. He has a career record of 102-102-2 in the regular season and 3-5 in the playoffs. Rivera led the Panthers to the Super Bowl in the 2015 season, where they lost to the Peyton Manning-led Denver Broncos.
