The Pittsburgh Steelers will need to get their quarterback situation figured out this season, and former NFL wide receiver Keyshawn Johnson thinks he has the solution: Justin Fields.

Fields is currently playing for the Chicago Bears, but with the Bears owning the No. 1 overall pick in this year’s NFL Draft, many are assuming that Chicago will ultimately trade Fields and take a signal-caller with the top selection.

If the Bears do, in fact, trade Fields, Johnson thinks the Steelers should be at the front of the line.

“In terms of quarterback fixing for the Pittsburgh Steelers and Mike Tomlin, here’s a guy that they should go get. If the Chicago Bears are stupid enough to get rid of Justin Fields — go get Justin Fields, man,” Johnson said on FS1’s Undisputed. “Go get Justin Fields and turn Justin Fields into what you should have gotten out of Kenny Pickett. Send him to Pittsburgh and Mike Tomlin and company. Back the truck up and go get that young man, and let’s see what Pittsburgh is in the 2024 year.”

Fields played in 13 games this past season, missing four contests due to a dislocated thumb. When he was on the field, he threw for 2,562 yards, 16 touchdowns and nine interceptions while completing 61.4 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 86.3. In addition, he rushed for 657 yards and four scores.

The 24-year-old certainly had some brilliant moments this year, like between Weeks 4 and 5 when he accumulated eight passing touchdowns and just one interception. The following week, however, Fields injured his thumb, putting a halt to what appeared to be a major breakthrough for the youngster.

Fields’ career has been marked by inconsistency, but there is no question that he possesses tantalizing talent and could end up becoming a franchise quarterback.

The Ohio State product was selected by the Bears with the 11th overall pick of the 2021 NFL Draft. He has gone just 10-28 as a starter since then, but that also has a lot to do with how bad Chicago has been as a team the last several years.

Should the Bears opt to trade Justin Fields this offseason, Pittsburgh would definitely make for an interesting destination.
