NFL 'MNF' Week 4: Best bets and preview for Giants vs. Seahawks
Another week of NFL action has come and gone, but we can't yet flip the page to Week 5 before breaking down the "Monday Night Football" matchup between the New York Giants and the Seattle Seahawks.
Let's take a look at the Week 4 finale and try to find some winning bets along the way.
New York Giants vs. Seattle Seahawks betting breakdown
Betting odds: Seahawks -1.5, over/under 47, Seahawks -130 moneyline | Giants +110 moneyline
In a matchup between two NFC wild-card playoff teams from last year, the Giants will host the Seahawks on "Monday Night Football." New York is looking to avoid a 1-3 start and remaining in the basement of the NFC East, while Seattle is trying to keep pace with the 4-0 San Francisco 49ers by improving to 3-1.
The biggest story leading up to this game is the health of Giants running back Saquon Barkley. Barkley missed last week's game against the 49ers due to a high ankle sprain, and he's listed as doubtful for "MNF." New York will also be without offensive tackle Andrew Thomas for a third straight game due to a hamstring injury.
As for the Seahawks, they're dealing with cluster injuries in the secondary. Cornerbacks Artie Burns and Tre Brown have already been ruled out, and slot corner Coby Bryant is listed as doubtful. Look for Daniel Jones and the Giants to air it out against Seattle's banged-up secondary.
'Monday Night Football' best bets

This has all the makings of a high-scoring affair at MetLife Stadium.
The Seahawks have been a dead over team to start the year. Their last two games finished with a combined 132 points scored, and Seattle allowed Andy Dalton and the Carolina Panthers to rack up 361 passing yards and 27 points. Jones and the Giants should have plenty of success moving the ball through the air and scoring against the Seahawks' depleted secondary.
On the other side of the ball, New York's defense ranks 23rd in the NFL in yards per play allowed (5.6) and 30th in points allowed per game (32.7). Bring on the points.
Matt Breida under 47.5 rushing yards (-130 DK)
Where is this number coming from?
Matt Breida takes over as New York's No. 1 running back when Barkley is inactive, but he doesn't see nearly the same workload as a rusher. Over his last two starts for the Giants, Breida has recorded 11 targets, 10 catches and only eight carries. Brian Daboll and Mike Kafka completely abandon the run whenever Barkley doesn't play, and that should be no different on "MNF."
The way to attack this Seahawks defense is through the air, not on the ground. Seattle is allowing the fewest yards per rush attempt (2.9) in the NFL, but it's surrendering the fourth-most yards per pass attempt (7.5). This should be a pass-heavy game plan for New York, so Breida likely won't rush the ball enough to go over this number.
