NFL 'MNF' Week 6: Best bets and preview for Chargers vs. Cowboys

Week 6 is almost in the books, but before we flip the page to Week 7, we still have one more primetime matchup to finish off the slate. The Los Angeles Chargers will host the Dallas Cowboys on "Monday Night Football"

Los Angeles Chargers vs. Dallas Cowboys betting breakdown

Betting odds: Cowboys -1.5, over/under 51, Cowboys -124 moneyline | Chargers +106 moneyline

The last time we saw the Cowboys they were getting embarrassed by the San Francisco 49ers, 42-10, in primetime. That performance left a sour taste in Dallas' mouth, but oddsmakers don't seem too worried about Dak Prescott and co.

Despite losing by 32 points a week ago, the Cowboys are short road favorites against the Chargers on "MNF." Los Angeles won't have much of a home-field advantage on Monday night, but Brandon Staley's squad has won two games in a row and is much healthier coming off a bye.

Quarterback Justin Herbert, running back Austin Ekeler, pass rusher Joey Bosa, safety Derwin James and offensive tackle Rashawn Slater are all expected to play despite taking up space on the injury report all week. As for the Cowboys, they've already ruled out cornerback C.J. Goodwin and linebacker Leighton Vander Esch, but there aren't any other major injuries affecting this matchup.

'Monday Night Football' best bets

Under 51 (-115 DraftKings)

When you think of these two offenses facing off with perfect field conditions and perfect weather, you probably think points. Well, we're fading those thoughts and rolling with the under 51.

This Cowboys offense hasn't been impressive through five weeks. Dallas has relied on its defense to create short fields and put up points themselves, and Prescott has been as inconsistent as any quarterback in the NFL. The Cowboys have also struggled to finish drives with touchdowns, as they rank 27th in the league in red zone touchdown percentage (36.8 percent).

As for the Chargers, they'll likely struggle against Dallas' elite defensive unit with Herbert playing through a broken finger and Ekeler returning to the field for the first time since suffering a high-ankle sprain in Week 1.

Will there be overtime? Yes (+1340 FanDuel)

Let's have some fun with our second pick, shall we?

We didn't see an overtime game in Week 6, but this is a prime candidate to get wacky. Think about it. Two head coaches known for head-scratching decisions on game day, two capable offenses and kickers, and a small spread that insinuates these two teams are close to equal. At this price, it's worth a shot.
