The NFL’s national anthem policy remains on hold with less than two weeks to go until the start of the regular season, and the league has continued to meet with the NFL Players Association to discuss the issues surrounding it.

On Monday, the NFL and NFLPA released a joint statement that said the two sides met again and “remain committed to working together on solutions.”

Back in May, the NFL implemented a new policy requiring players to stand for the national anthem if they choose to be on the field. The policy gave them the option of remaining in the locker room during “The Star-Spangled Banner” but stated that any player who chose to kneel or protest would be subject to a fine.

After the new policy was ripped by several players, politicians and other people, the NFLPA filed an official grievance. The NFL then decided to put the policy on hold, which is where it remains. At this rate, it would not be a surprise if there is no solution before Week 1.
