NFL, NFLPA trying to implement pending changes to concussion protocols ahead of Week 5?

With "Thursday Night Football" between the Denver Broncos and Indianapolis Colts less than 12 hours away, the NFL and NFLPA may be in the final stages of their investigation into Tua Tagovailoa's possible concussion in Week 3. According to Mark Maske of The Washington Post, the league may be looking to make changes to the concussion protocols ahead of kickoff to Week 5 on Thursday night.

Tagovailoa met with representatives from the NFL and NFLPA on Tuesday. NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reported that day that the hope was to conclude the investigation "within the week."

The former Alabama quarterback is currently in the concussion protocol following the second scary on-field incident in less than one week in the Dolphins Week 4 game against the Cincinnati Bengals on "Thursday Night Football." The 24-year-old has already been ruled out for Miami's Week 5 game against the New York Jets.

The Broncos and Colts are scheduled to begin Week 5 action at 8:15 p.m. ET on Thursday.
