NFL Performance Of The Week (W3)

My NFL Performance Of The Week (Week3) comes from none other than Jacksonville Jaguars Quarterback Trevor Lawrence. After a less than stellar rookie campaign riddled with controversy (mostly due to every one other than him), subpar play, losing, and the occasional clear flash of the generational talent he was heralded as, you began to wonder if you’d ever see this guy realize his full potential while in Jacksonville. After hiring Doug Pedersen, drafting well & adding through free agency, the Jaguars went from a laughing stock to semi respectable. However, the success of the team was and is LARGELY predicated on how well Trevor Lawrence plays. If Sunday was any indication of what’s to come, the Jaguars hot start will prove to be no fluke & Trevor Lawrence will fully have arrived. Going into the game all everyone wanted to talk about was Justin Herbert (for good reason). After that performance, we all left more than impressed with Trevor Lawrence.

GAMEPLAY

Lawrence was an impressive 28/39 for 262 yards & three touchdowns on the day. Additionally, he boasted a 115.5 passer rating. The wide array of throws & angles in which Lawrence delivered the ball was impeccable. The Jaguars impressively went 10-17 on 3rd and 4th down. That was largely do to Lawrence’s uncanny pocket presence. The offensive line was GREAT, much respect to those guys. This is the NFL, though. There was pressure & consistent blitz’s from the Chargers. Lawrence’s escapability & toughness was on full display. Closing, I’d like to point out maybe the most impressive thing on display through the course of the game. Trevor’s poise and quiet leadership. He, along with guys such as Justin Herbert & Jalen Hurts, have this almost robotic quality about them. Never get too high or too low as the old adage goes. He takes that to heart. Irregardless, the guys seem to all rally to him & hold him in such a high regard. That’s what it’s all about. Trevor Lawrence, take a bow.
