NFL Playoffs: Wiesguy's 2 Picks and a Prop for Giants-Eagles

Philly was off last week. They have not dominated down the stretch the way they did earlier in the season and now they need to flip the switch. I think we are all curious as to whether they can do it.

Meanwhile, rival New York beat Minnesota last week. It was close but it also felt like they were in control. Now they have to try and reel in an opponent that beat them twice during the regular season.

Is the third time the charm for the Giants?

New York Giants vs Philadelphia Eagles
Saturday, January 21, 2023
8:15 PM ET
Lincoln Financial Field, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Spread: Philadelphia Eagles -7.5
Total: 48

The Eagles were favored in both of the games these teams played this season. They covered on the road winning big, but it is hard to take too much from the season finale which was not a meaningful contest, and much closer.

Spread Pick: Philadelphia -7.5

I hate that hook on this number but I am not sure it going to change so we have to make our peace with it. Philadelphia is the better more complete team and while I might have some doubts about whether they can represent the NFC in the Super Bowl, the gap between them and the Giants is significant. As long as QB Jalen Hurts is solid, the Eagles can win by margin. They are very familiar with the Giants and that is going to be evident quickly. Plus their advantage with their receivers to create big plays will give them a chance to build a nice cushion to work with.

Total Pick: Under 48

I never like pairing a significant favorite with an under. That is especially hard when we saw the Eagles score 48 points on their own against the Giants on the road less than a couple of months ago. This weekend I just think that Philly is going to do a great job keeping the Giants in front of them. They are not designed to have QB Daniel Jones be surgical to get their points. They are going to need some big plays and they are going to fall short. I like a 27-13 final score.

Prop Pick: Graham Gano over 5.5 Kicking Points

New York is going to find it challenging to pump it into the end zone against the Eagles. I am looking for Gano to help the team get on the board early though. The confidence of the Giants is fragile and they can't afford to have empty trips that put too much on their QB. I am looking for FG per half from the kicker. Maybe more if it is actually close.
