The National Football League has taken disciplinary action against New York Jets' cornerback Brandin Echols.

According to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, the third-year pro has received a one-game suspension and will miss the Jets' Monday Night Football opener against the Buffalo Bills as a result. The League levied the penalty for a "a violation of the personal conduct policy."

Echols was involved in a high-speed car crash not far from the Jets' Florham Park-based team facility in April 2022.

Earlier this year, the Daily Record obtained police records that showed Echols was charged with fourth-degree crime by Florham Park Police, who also "issued him several motor vehicle summonses for reckless driving, speeding, unsafe lane change, improper passing and failure to wear a seatbelt."

On March 10, the New Jersey Herald's Lori Comstock reported that Echols had been "accepted in a diversionary program to avoid assault by auto charges." (Full story HERE)

In 2021, Echols accounted for 63 combined tackles, two interceptions and nine passes defensed. He had a game-tying pick-six against the Miami Dolphins in Week 15 that year.

Echols did not start any of his 13 appearances during thee 2022 season. After logging 760 defensive snaps as a rookie, he was on the field for only eight percent of the defense's plays in Year 2.
