NFL Week 12: What we learned and how it applies to Week 13 wagers
Who said home favorites never cover? Well, they didn't through the first 11 weeks of the season, but that was far from the case in Week 12. So, what else is new on the NFL betting front?
The under continues to finish .500 or better, the Raiders walked off in overtime for the second straight week, and one team out west continues to dominate the under. Read all about it in our NFL Week 12 Recap.
When it comes to the total points, keep taking the under
After failing to finish .500 or better for just the second time all season last week, the under went 8-7 this week with only the Monday night game remaining. Through the first 12 weeks of the season, the under is now 100-77-2 (56%).
Broncos hit on the under again
The Denver Broncos have hit on a league-best seven straight unders and improved to a league-leading 10-1 against the under after nailing the under on Sunday against the Carolina Panthers. The total points was set at 36.5 and the game finished with 33 total points (Carolina 23, Denver 10).
Three-way tie for first against the spread
With Tennessee failing to cover the spread against Cincinnati on Sunday, there's now a three-way tie for first place in the NFL for the best against the spread record. The Bengals, Giants and Titans are now all 8-3 ATS after the Giants (+10) covered the spread against Dallas on Thanksgiving, and with Cincinnati (-1) defeating Tennessee, 20-16, on Sunday.
Home favorites dominate Week 12
Home favorites might have been hitting less than 45% through the first 11 (41-53-3) weeks of the season, but that trend didn't apply this week. Of the nine home favorites this week, seven covered the spread so far in Week 12.
DraftKings long shot special hits
DraftKings' 90/1 special for all 14 of 1 p.m. (ET) teams to score a touchdown and a field goal on Sunday hit. And one bettor came away with a good chunk of change after a $54.84 bet paid out $4,990.44.
Heading into Week 13
East side reigns! Despite both the New York Giants and New England Patriots losing on Thanksgiving, every team in the AFC East and NFC East remains at least one game above .500. The Eagles remain atop the NFC East and still have the best record in the NFL at 10-1 after beating Green Bay on Sunday night, while the Miami Dolphins and Buffalo Bills are tied for first in the AFC East at 8-3.
In Heinicke we trust!
Taylor Heinicke improved to 6-0 against the spread as the Commanders' starter after Washington (-4.5) defeated Atlanta, 19-13, on Sunday. The Commanders have also won three straight games and are 5-1 when Heinicke starts this season.
New QB doesn't solve Houston's woes
The Texans hoped Kyle Allen at quarterback this week would turn their bad luck around, but unfortunately, the QB swap didn't work. Houston has now lost six straight games and are a league-worst 1-9-1 this year after losing to Miami, 30-15.
Kansas City can't be beat in November and December
The Kansas City Chiefs have now won 26 straight games in November and December after defeating the Los Angeles Rams, 26-10, on Sunday. The Chiefs have now won a league-high-tying five straight games and are currently the top seed in the AFC with a record of 9-2.
Bears get blown out without Fields, but hit on the over, again
Chicago in now 6-0 in its last six games against the over after the New York Jets defeated the Bears, 31-10, on Sunday. The total points was set at 36.5, giving the Bears the second-best record in the NFL against the over at 8-4.
