NFL Week 17: Arizona Cardinals vs. Philadelphia Eagles betting picks, preview

We've got an Arizona Cardinals team that still has a small chance at the top pick, and a Philadelphia Eagles team looking for a confidence-building win in advance of the postseason. These two teams are on different ends of the spectrum, but you might be surprised where we're leaning with our bet in this one.

Arizona Cardinals vs. Philadelphia Eagles: Betting Odds

Spread: Philadelphia -11, Over/under: 48.5 points, Arizona +440 | Philadelphia -600

Arizona is 3-12, having just lost to the Chicago Bears. The Cardinals' biggest issues have resided on the defensive side of the football, as they have shown no ability to slow down the run or the pass, largely because they've suffered a rash of injuries to starters all over the field.

Kyler Murray has shown flashes, and tight end Trey McBride has been a bright spot, but the offense is anemic as a whole, which has made it difficult to mount comebacks out of the hole their defense provides them.

On the other side, the Eagles are 11-4, grabbing a much-needed win over the Giants on Christmas Day to snap a three-game skid. The critics of Philly have only grown over the last month, as this team just has not looked the same as they did last year en route to a Super Bowl berth.

The one bright spot is that despite not playing a complete game this year, the Eagles are on the cusp of winning their second-straight NFC East title.

The Eagles are 6-6-3 ATS this season and 8-7 to the over. Arizona is 7-7-1 ATS and 8-6-1 to the over.

Betting Picks for Arizona vs. Philadelphia

Cardinals +11

On paper, D'Andre Swift and this Eagles running game should be able to have a ton of success against this porous Cardinals run defense, and we definitely do expect them to have a big day in that regard.

However, week-after-week, this Philadelphia team continues to find themselves in close games. Whether it's mistakes with turnovers or defensive lapses, the Eagles have been unable to put away opponents, so why in the world would we back them to cover this 11-point spread?

The Eagles pass-rush has been unable to get home this season, and Kyler Murray is as elusive as they come out of the pocket. Expect plenty of Murray scrambles in this one as he gives the Eagles headaches in what will ultimately end up as another sweaty win for the Philly faithful. Take the Cardinals +11.
